The Yucatán Channel is one of the most productive sport fishing corridors in the Atlantic: blue marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, wahoo and mahi-mahi cross these deep waters riding the currents around Isla Mujeres — host, not by accident, to international fishing tournaments.

Six hours aboard a private 32-foot charter rigged for big game: premium rods and reels, lures and bait, a fighting chair, and a captain and mate who have spent their lives fighting sailfish bills in these waters.

The charter is private for 1-5 people with a cooler and drinks on board. Billfish are catch & release for conservation; the rest of the edible catch is yours. Fair warning: when the reel screams in the channel, no adrenaline compares.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best season?

There's always fishing, but each species peaks: sailfish December to July (best February to June), blue and white marlin March to July, tuna and mahi-mahi nearly year-round.

Do I need big-game experience?

No. The captain and mate rig the lines, spot the strike and coach you through the whole fight. Your job is to hold on and enjoy.

Why are marlin released?

Billfish (marlin, sailfish) are catch & release for conservation — photographed boat-side and set free. Tuna, wahoo and mahi-mahi are yours for the table.
