Some places on Isla Mujeres are the kind you walk into with one plan and end up staying for another. Stingray is one of them. You can show up wanting something simple to eat and end up watching half a game, or stop in for a drink and leave singing. That is part of the charm: the place adapts to whatever you have in mind.
It sits right in the center of town, on the corner of Hidalgo and López Mateos, one block from Playa Norte. That makes it easy: spend the morning on the beach, then stroll over for something cold and fresh. It has two floors, so you can spot it from a distance, and inside it surprises you. There is plenty of greenery, a relaxed mood, and that "it's so nice to be here" feeling you do not always find in the busiest part of the island.

The bar is one of our favorite things. Instead of regular stools, it has swings, which sounds like a joke until you sit down with a cold drink and understand why people stay a while. It is one of those small details that gives a place personality.
It is also very practical: there are screens everywhere. If there is a match, a fight, a final, or any event you would rather watch with company, they show it here. You do not have to fight for the table with the best view, because from almost anywhere you sit you can see something. It is a sure bet with friends when you want to cheer along without leaving downtown.
Then there are the karaoke nights. Some evenings the place transforms: someone takes on a classic, the next table joins the chorus, and suddenly half the bar is singing even though nobody planned it. You do not need a great voice, just the will. Depending on the night, there may also be live music or a DJ, and upstairs there is a palapa where the mood builds even more.
As for the food, the menu is the kind that sounds good without being complicated: burgers, tacos, seafood, salads, and cocktails to go with it. On Sundays there is a breakfast buffet, which we think is a great excuse to start the day slowly, with family or friends, or to recover after a long Saturday night.
If you are thinking of celebrating something, that works here too. They rent the space for events, from birthdays to get-togethers with friends or whatever you have in mind. The advantage is that the bar, the screens, and the atmosphere come included, so half the party is already set up.
Our local tip: do not think of it as just one kind of place. Sunday breakfast, an afternoon game, or dinner that ends in singing are three different plans in the same spot. Before you go, confirm hours and what is on, since karaoke, events, and the buffet change by day. Come ready to have a good time, and the rest sorts itself out.
