Discover Scuba Diving

No experience needed · PADI · Min 2 people

4–5 hours Year-round From $3,500 MXN

The underwater world doesn't require a certification — just the willingness to take your first breath below the surface. Discover Scuba Diving is PADI's official program for trying scuba without a full course, and the warm, crystal-clear waters of MUSA and Manchones Reef, in Isla Mujeres, are among the best places on Earth to do it.

The experience starts with a full briefing: how the gear works, how to equalize, the basic signals. Then a confined-water practice session to build confidence. And then the real thing: your two real dives, at MUSA and Manchones Reef, each with its own air tank so you can make the most of every moment underwater, with a PADI-certified instructor beside you the entire time at safe depths.

Most people describe it the same way: the first five minutes are focus, the rest is pure awe. Many come out of the water asking about the Open Water certification. Minimum age 10 years old. Minimum 2 people.

Frequently asked questions

Do I really need zero experience?

None at all. The program is designed for absolute beginners: theory, calm-water practice, and only then the real dive — always with an instructor at your side.

Are there medical requirements?

You'll fill out a standard PADI medical questionnaire. Conditions like asthma, heart issues or recent surgery may require a doctor's clearance.

How deep do we go?

12 meters max, the Discover program limit. More than enough for reefs bursting with life.

Does it count toward Open Water certification?

Your first dive can be credited if you continue to the Open Water course with us during your trip. Ask us when you finish.

Can I fly the same day?

No. After diving, wait at least 18-24 hours before flying. Plan your dive early in your trip.
