Open Water Diving

MUSA + Manchones Reef · Open Water Cert.

3.5–4 hours Year-round From $3,100 MXN

Isla Mujeres sits on the edge of the Mesoamerican Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world. For certified divers, that means immediate access to world-class sites minutes from the dock: no long crossings, no crowds.

The plan: two tanks, two dives at the island's most iconic sites. MUSA, where the sunken sculptures have become a living artificial reef, and the coral walls of Manchones, patrolled by turtles, rays and schools of yellow grunts.

Our guides dive these waters every day of the year — they know the currents, the exact spots where turtles rest, and how to read conditions to pick each morning's best site. Requires Open Water certification or higher.

Frequently asked questions

What certification do I need?

PADI Open Water or the equivalent from any recognized agency (SSI, NAUI, etc.). Bring your card or digital version.

It's been a while since I dove — does that matter?

If it's been over 12-18 months, we recommend a refresher first. Mention it when booking and we'll set it up.

How's the visibility?

Typically 15 to 25 meters, with 26-29°C water year-round. Textbook conditions.

Can I bring my own gear?

Of course. If you bring full gear, let us know when booking; the price includes equipment but many divers prefer their own.
