Sea Turtle Tour

May–August · Green turtle season

4–5 hours May–August From $3,100 MXN

In the warm, shallow waters of Isla Mujeres, green sea turtles have navigated the same routes for millions of years. From May to August they gather in extraordinary numbers over the coastal seagrass beds.

The tour is an exercise in respect: no chasing, no touching, no blocking their path to the surface. Just the privilege of drifting with the current alongside one of the ocean's most ancient creatures, while your specialist guide explains what you're seeing and why it matters.

Available from May to August, when sightings are all but certain. Minimum 2 people.

Frequently asked questions

Why only May through August?

That's when green turtles gather off the island in the greatest numbers. Outside those dates sightings are possible but scattered — we prefer to offer the tour only when the experience lives up to it.

Can I touch a turtle?

No. They're a protected species in Mexico and touching them is both a crime and harmful. The briefing teaches you to swim close without disturbing them — which is also how they stay around longer.

Is it suitable for kids?

Yes, all ages with an accompanying adult. The waters are shallow and calm, ideal for first-time snorkelers.

What if we don't see turtles?

In season the sighting rate is close to 100%.
